Contemplative Scripture Retreats

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.

–Matthew 11:28-30 The Message

Think of it as an experiential book club, filled with rhythm, rest, and renewal.

Contemplative scripture retreats offer space for imagination and discovering life in the Word beyond “themes, memes, and soundbite” approaches to Scripture.

Our questions are simple:

What do you hear?

What do you notice?

What might this tell us?

Come and see. Be refreshed.

All CSRs are designed for your context.

When you host a CSR, you engage in two-five days of:

  • creative contemplative practices
  • dwelling deeply in Scripture with room for curiosity
  • nature
  • rich conversation
  • meals gathered around the table

Schedule a time for learning how to collaborate on creating your group's unique retreat.

The roots of Contemplative Scripture Retreats stretch back to the 1960s. Growing up with these roots shaped generations of students, including me.

Manuscript Bible Study is a foundational way of approaching Scripture in our retreats. It involves simple curiosity and careful noticing.
